i've been waiting for the greenies to reappear at Juanita... haven't seen one there in a couple of years. for several years they were fairly common, and in 2008, it seemed every time i went there, i saw one or more. hopefully they'll be back... they're such fun characters to shoot!! this uncropped image was taken with my 40D and 100-400 lens at 365mm, 1/500 @ f/8 from a distance of about 15 feet...
Nice job getting close, Rocky. When I'd take my photo classes to the Arboretum I'd always look for these, but they're really hard to find there. I've seen plenty of them in the tropics, but it would be nice to get a shot like this locally.

thanks, Max... this was taken at Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland. if you're taking students out to photograph birds, you oughta consider it... it's "local", and one of the best birding spots in the state!
