Finally got some good shots of harlequin ducks... I'd never managed anything worthwhile before, only one shot from the jetty at Brackett's Landing, and that only good for ID purposes. But I'd heard there were some hanging around up at Rosario Head, near Deception Pass, so I went up there this afternoon and sure enough, there they were! And very cooperative, too! Got a number of shots, including 2 of these, from less than 20 yards away...

Cool, and you had some nice light to boot. I think I saw them there a few years ago with a client, but I get them so often in Yellowstone during the spring I don't spend much time looking for them here. Nice find.

Thanks, Max! Sadly, Yellowstone remains on my bucket list... one of these days...

I have never gotten that close to any to get such good shots.
Thanks, Bill. I was fortunate... I saw them slowly working their way toward the rocks near me, so I just stayed put and waited. They don't seem near as skittish as some species, and obligingly came in pretty close. Getting them on the rocks was a real bonus!
