took Bill's tip (thanks for the heads-up, Bill!) and went down to the marina today to see if the horned grebe was still there... he was, and although he didn't come terribly close, i still managed some decent shots... 7D, Tammy 150-600 @ 600mm, various shutter speeds at f/11...
while i was there, he caught himself a couple of sculpins (we used to call these 'bullheads' when i was a kid) and enjoyed fresh sushi...
thanks, Bill.. it does indeed. may not be quite as sharp and clear as one of the "big whites", but it's a trade-off i'll make... i couldn't begin to afford one of those howitzers, but this puts the same reach within my budget!
I don't see any problems with these photos. There's always a difference in the feel between camera models and lenses, this of course is easily handled in post processing/ editing if need be. You have a great set-up in the 7D and Tammy. You're shooting some fine quality shots.
I really like the reflection of the clouds along with ripples in the water with the second photo down but, the third shot takes the sculpin!
