Apparently the hybrids are pretty common. We've had one return to our yard every year for the past couple of years. They're a bit less easily spooked, but still not tame.

You've been busy rocky, nice photos. Did the lighting affect these brown colors in the feathers?
wonder who bred with what to produce these markings?? those wacky mallards...
