Just a couple bends in the river

As always, critique is welcome/encouraged!

Rocky gave me the suggestion to check out Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River near Page, AZ. So here is my attempt at getting it all into one frame. It was shot at 9mm - on my Olympus 4/3 body that is 18mm "equivalent".

And then - in the spirit of "If one is good, then more is better", here is a view of the Goosenecks of the San Juan River near Mexican Hat, UT. Three complete horseshoe bends piled on top of each other! It wouldn't fit into one frame even at 9mm, so this one is a pano stitched from 6 vertically framed shots.

looks good, Mike... wish i'd had a wider lens when i visited there a couple of years ago. i didn't have my 5D yet at that time, and my 17-35 wasn't wide enough on my 40D crop body... i had to stitch several frames together to get it all in, and in the process of straightening it all out, i lost the sky i wanted to include. still an impressive place, though, and i want to go back and shoot it again with the FF body...

to give you a sense of just how vast Horseshoe Bend is, here's a 100% crop from the multi-frame stitch, showing what appears to be a small building at the bottom of the cliff, just above the tree line. judging by the pathways, it looks like it might be one of those park service restroom buildings, but it's hard to be sure...

My husband is currently on his way down there to raft the Grand Canyon for the third time. A photographer he is not so I will have to look at your photos to feel like I am there again. Very nice photos to show the granduer of the southwest rivers.
