I've been trying for several years to get a half-decent shot of one of these little stinkers, to no avail. Finally got one at Eide Road this afternoon. Still not what I'd call a great shot - not as clear and sharp as I'd like, due to distance and cropping - but a lot better than anything else I've gotten to date!

Good shot. My best luck photographing kestrels has been from a car as they are perched on telephone lines, which does not make very photogenic shots.

Thanks, Bill... that's where I've often seen them as well, but they always take off before I can get my camera out!
