lots of activity there yesterday... in addition to the green herons, we saw killdeer, spotted sandpipers, marsh wrens, RWBBs, a hummer (at some distance), blue herons, tons of violet-green, barn and tree swallows, the pied billed grebe and her chick, a variety of ducks (lots of weirdly marked hybrids), a nutria family, and even this kingfisher, who flitted around for a while, made a couple of unsuccessful dives, dried off on this branch, and then left...
