it's hard to get a good shot of these little feathered pinballs - they bounce around from branch to vine, and never seem to sit still long enough for the AF to lock on - but i did manage this one this afternoon at the park across the street... 5d2, 100-400 @ 400mm, 1/800 @ f/8, ISO 800...
A friend of mine got some excellent shots of a r/c kinglet using a rather unorthodox technique.
He went out to his back deck with his camera on a rare, sunny winter's day. Flys were attracted to the warmth of the sunny side of his house and the r/c kinglets were attracted to the flys. He photographed a kinglet perched motionless on the side of his house with no obstructing branches. The photos were so detailed that I accused him of tacking a stuffed kinglet onto the side of his house and photographing it.
Since Bill Anderson has put me on the spot, here is a shot of a Ruby-crowned Kinglet taken from our deck on January 17.
