How difficult was it to get the lake that still? Judging by the shadows, you're there either early morning or late evening, which definitely helps. Did you have trouble finding calm conditions?

thanks, Bob. this was taken around 4:15 PM. it can be tough to get the water that smooth... usually there's a breeze, or an evil duck swimming around and making waves... i happened to hit it just right. i'd tried a couple of times before, and gotten nowhere near this good a reflection.
as an aside, this shot looks spectacular printed at 20x30!

I would love to see it framed and matted in the size of 20X30!!! 
To actually get a shot like that here in the PNW, when it seems like either an animal or the wind would ruin such a stunning reflection shot, I would applaude you for your time and effort...

thanks, Zachary. i've sold more prints of this one than any other photo i've taken, and almost all have been 20x30. it's just got so much impact at that size... really dominates a wall. one of those shots that would look spectacular over the mantel of a river-rock fireplace in lodge or someplace like that...
