Mann Lake Near Lewiston, ID

Last weekend was my 45 year high school class reunion in Lewiston, ID. For the first time in twenty years, I did not ride my motorcycle to Lewiston. I took the F-150 as I wanted to take along my photography equipment and spend time photographing things I usually would just ride past.

The first reunion activity was Friday (8/9) evening and my classmates would start arriving Friday afternoon, so I wanted to do some local bird spotting in the morning before it got really hot. Lewiston being Lewiston in August, it was approaching the 90's when I walked around Mann Lake, a reservoir south east of Lewiston which is the city's water supply.

Barn swallows.

Eastern kingbird, which is yet another flycatcher.

Mystery shorebird. Try as I might, I could not get a really clear shot of it.

More osprey. The arid hills in the background were quite a contrast to Puget Sound where I am accustomed to photographing osprey. It shows how adaptive they are.

This osprey was eating a fish while watching another one fly by.
