poking around the old campground area at Saltwater State Park... it's been closed for some time, by the look of it, but you can still walk upstream from the parking lot. 5D, 24-135 @ 135mm, 4 sec @ f/13 w/polarizer and ND4 filter...

Beautiful, Rocky. It looks like a forest rainbow!

One super small detail that REALLY makes this work for me; the few rocks of the shoreline on the lower left. That really brings the image back down to earth.

I like the swirlies in the water and the contrast it gives to the moss.

Saltwater State Park, I think I camped there many years ago. For some reason I recall a lot of traffic overhead from Sea Tac. do I have the right place in mind?

yep, it's right under the landing pattern for the airport... not exactly conducive to pleasant camping! the campground is closed now, looks like it has been for several years at least, but you can still walk up the road from the parking lot and follow the creek.

It was especially loud in the morning. I also have memories of some creepy campers there. Decided never to go there again. One of the rare times I wished I had a weapon with me.

yeah, sometimes it's a little dicey camping so close to an urban area... one reason i never camped that close to civilization! ;)
 
I remember it being a nice park just the same. It's still a nice place to be for a day use retreat just the same. We are lucky to have places like this to enjoy nature close to the city.

A special photo indeed.
