Kirk, I'm guessing you're not exactly new at photography.
Wow, what a great shot! Is that HDR or just a single exposure? I'm guessing just one long exposure, but it sure has a nice glow to it...

It is HDR but I don't remember the frame count, 3-5 I'm sure.
Best way I have found is in what ever the scene, find the center of the histogram in the correct exposure, then bracket 2 stops up and down. that's what I play with in Photomatix.

OK, well then that explains the look, but I also have to compliment you on how nicely it's done. It doesn't scream "HDR!" like so many of those shots do. All we see is the nice bright glow, but it's still realistic looking. Very nice!
Nice image Kirk! It is a very nice scene and the HDR seems to have worked well here. There is a bit of a halo along the tops of the trees, which gives the HDR away to me, but still a very nice job.
