Hello Everyone,
My girlfriend and I are planning a road trip around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State next summer around July and were trying to come up with places to go. We want to know where some of the best places to photograph are? We want to do a combo of both camping and hotel stay. We want to do as much as we can in a week. but not spend a fortune. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake, Ozette Loop Trail, Shi Shi Beach, Cape Flattery, are all must see's while out here on the West end of the Olympic Peninsula. There are also a few really nice waterfalls. Marymere and Sol Duc falls
As for hotels you will need to book no later than April if you wish to stay anywhere nice. Our place will be booked 95% by end of April for the entire summer season.
For lake crescent, hurricane ridge and the waterfalls staying in or around Port Angeles would be best. Lake Crescent has Fairholm campground.
For the West end trails staying around the Sekiu, Clallam Bay area would be best.
There is excellent dry camping right on the Strait of Juan De Fuca between Clallam Bay and Sekiu for 13.00 per night, below the Tavern
As far as motels June/July is the height of fishing season and Id stay clear of the town itself unless you really enjoy the smell of fish, There are some nice motels there in Sekiu, The Straitside Resort would be one.
The Bay motel is nice and clean, the Winter Summer Inn B&B is very nice and clean with some rooms with their own bath. both are fairly in expensive
I run Chito Beach Resort which is the higher end of places to stay at 150.00 per night and up.
I am the coordinator of the Clallam bay/Sekiu Visitors center you can PM me for specific info if you wish
check out The Olympic Peninsula Visitors Bureau here also, great info.
