the osprey aren't the only ones inhabiting the nest in Everett... it seems a family of house sparrows (near as i can tell) have set up housekeeping in the lower portion of the osprey's nest. you can see the male peering out of the opening in the lower left... i watched them coming and going for several hours this afternoon, always returning to the same spot in the woodwork... the osprey seem completely disinterested in the doings of sparrows, and pay no heed to their diminutive "roommates"...

I've seen this before where passerine species will nest just below the larger raptor nests, especially Bald Eagles. It's sort of like setting up shop in their
basement apartment. We could speculate about things like security, etc., that the smaller birds get in this situation.
Always interesting things to see out there. That's why I always recommend....being out there!
