Pileated Woodpecker

I was talking to a friend on the trail above Whatcom Creek this afternoon when this male PIWO swooped in, right over my head, and went to a spot where I'm sure he's been before. The hole in this tree was filled with ants....and he ate a bunch while allowing me to observe from only 10' away.
Look closely in the last two shots and you can see the ant(s).
