Bill Anderson and I watched some exciting action. The lighting (cloudy but fairly bright) was perfect for these shots. Most of them are of the eaglets exercising their wings. They have not flown out of their nest yet, although they likely will in the next couple of weeks or perhaps days.

All of these shots were taken on June 24, 2013 in the afternoon with a Canon 7D a 500mm f4L lens and a 1.4X tele-extender (700mm)

They are not fighting, that's just the way they look :) Amazing to watch.

It looked like he/she was going to jump right out of the nest. BTW, that nest is HUGE. It often looks like no one is home when in fact they are.

Thanks, Christine! I think he/she will be getting lots more in the next few days. I'm hoping to see some serious 'branching'
 


Great photos, Terry. I was up there this afternoon when the storm rolled through town. The tree was really rocking. I did not see the eaglets, but I'm sure they were hunkered down getting seasick deep inside the nest.
 
Thanks, Janice and Bill. I know I wouldn't last 5 minutes in that rocking nest, Bill. Makes me bilious just watching thought the view finder :) Bill, we need to keep our eyes on them. I think fledging isn't far off.
 
Still practicing - no branching yet...

I joined Bill Anderson and his Son this evening after getting drenched on my first try a couple of hours earlier. I missed 'feeding time' but the two nestlings were doing a lot of hopping around.

They are getting their feet further off the nest.
