On the drive to Malheur NWR in Oregon last week we took a quick round at Ridgefield. Not alot going on, but did get these.
 
i don't believe i've ever seen a heron twist its head upside down like that... great catch!
 


I am so absolutely JEALOUS of this series! WOW!!!! I have driven through that loop for three years and NEVER seen a heron with a snake. Your being in the right place at the right time was spot on. Hope you bought a lottery ticket on the way home. :D

Although I am a huge snake fan, and normally hate to see the demise of a snake, I am REALLY impressed with these two shots. Thanks for posting.
