i don't normally bother with gulls... they're sorta like pigeons - flying rats - but this one i couldn't pass up. it had caught - or stolen, since gulls are rascals like that - a small flounder, and flew over and landed on a log. it dropped the fish, flipped it around a couple of times, pecked at it once or twice, then just picked it up in its beak and stood there, like it wasn't sure what to do next...
I'll see your gull with a flounder and raise you a gull with a flounder....a starry flounder in fact.
I shot a video of a loon swallowing one a couple of days ago.

apparently filet of sole appeals to gulls...
don't think they can swallow 'em whole like a loon or a cormorant could, though...

On more than one occasion I have seen a gull with its mouth completely filled with a starfish. It looked as though the gull was going to choke.
I've seen them do this with starfish - they just stand there looking like they will choke - I wonder if their digestive juices help them out?
