this RWBB was in full display mode this afternoon at Juanita Bay Park... he was probably about 15 feet away, putting on a show, knowing i couldn't resist... :D 7D, 400mm, 1/250 @ f/8...

Great shots. Male redwings are extremely difficult to shoot. In addition to our cameras not handling the bright red very well, exposure levels are critical to avoid getting a flat black silhouette with no catch light in the eyes without over exposing the entire photo.

thanks, guys. i have a ton of images of these little fellas, but they're just so darned photogenic, especially when they're displaying like this, that i can't resist taking more!!

weird... some little glitch in copy process from the card to the computer, apparently... it's not in the original. here's a Mulligan...

I have no problem with the photo for purposes of this site. Until you enter it in a contest or print it for display, don't bother going back to change it.

already done, Bill... took all of about 3 minutes to pull up the original and redo the processing. i probably won't print these - i rarely print my bird photos, since they don't usually sell well, but i do like to have them "print worthy" just in case.
