got this little guy on the way back to the car... it was quite dark, and i had the ISO up at 3200, but still couldn't get much contrast.. just not enough light. this little fella was about the size of a robin, with a longish tail, and sort of a dull brown back and wings. very definite hooked beak... this is a lousy photo, but for ID purposes it'll do.

No doubt about this one, it is a juvie northern shrike. The breast feathers look like scales. Look for them perched at the very top of a tree or pole. Once every few years one will spend the winter at the Edmonds marsh.
