Snowy Thanksgiving~critiques ok

Because it's "artistic"?
I was just playing around with it, since you did. B&W is a fun and easy way to experiment.
I certainly agree, the leaf's color contrasts with the white snow very nicely, it's a great shot!
Buy, and while it's a wonderful way to do Black and White conversion, the best I've ever seen, it's not cheap, not cheap at all!
Actually, I see it's currently on sale for about $100 in the bookstore, which is a good price, but still expensive.

That can be a problem. I really like the color version of the centered one, so it's pretty good.

They're all pretty nice. I like the color version of the leaf, and I like the last barn.
The color of the leaf really adds to the image, it's a nice effect. The black and white is a bit washed out. I've played with it a bit in Nik Silver Efx, I'll post my version below.
I like the barn shots, but definitely agree the last one is best. The two straight on ones are too centered. I actually like how you've got them centered up nicely, but it's almost too even. (Does that make sense?)

Ok, here's my version of the black and white snow shot. I tried to keep some more detail in the snow, it looked a bit washed out.
So, how did I do this? Did I spend hours in Photoshop tweaking and adjusting? No, I used Nik Software's Silver Efx Pro. It's a bunch of presets for Photoshop that do some amazing stuff with black and white. Sure, you can do the same thing yourself, but you'd have to figure out how it's done, and spend lots of time doing it. With this program, you click on the many presets until you find one you like, then fine tune it. Works great!

Bob, I could do all that B&W stuff w/ the leaf...but why? The color is better. 
Sometimes I experiment because I'm sometimes surprised at what people prefer. Is this software something you can download or buy? I agree that the barn shot is way centered but there was so much farm junk around it, there was little choice :/
