went back to Canyon Park yesterday, and after getting shots of the baby coots, i managed some nice close shots of goldfinches on the thistles... one let me get within about 15 feet, an i was able to get a lot of great shots. these are cropped only slightly for better composition...
this one was shot from a little farther away - perhaps 20-25 feet - but it was nice to get the maie and female both on the thistle at the same time...
Wow, these are great, Rocky. I'm going to have to find my way over there when I get back at the end of the month!

Just plant thistles in your yard and save yourself the drive.
