usually these little guys are down in the thickets, "hop-scratching" for snacks among the leaf-litter on the ground, but i caught this handsome fellow sitting on a branch in the open. he was flitting around in the brush with a couple of his friends, bouncing from one perch to another, and paused just long enough for the AF to lock on. this isn't as tack-sharp as i'd have liked, but it's not the lens's fault - the light was lousy in the spot where he landed, and i didn't have time to bump up the ISO, so this was shot at a good deal slower shutter speed than i'd normally attempt handheld without a brace... 7D, 600mm, 1/125 @ f/8.
