lest anyone think this new Tamron 150-600 is just a "bird lens", here's a sample of what it can do for close-ups... this is just a grab-shot of a willow blossom, taken from minimum focus distance, about 8 feet. 500mm, 1/400 @ f/8...

yup... IMHO, this may be the best value out there for a long zoom lens! it may not be quite as sharp as a $10,000 500 f/4 prime, but once the image is processed and printed, i doubt most folks could tell the difference!
