spent a glorious winter day up at Eide Road today. started off kinda slow, but things got interesting around 3:00. all shots with the 7D and Tamron 150-600

one of the long-ears in wonderful golden light just before sunset... this is not enhanced... the photo is straight from the camera! 600mm, 1/800 @ f/8

It looks as though your new lens is tracking birds in flight quite well. Are there still lots of people at Eide Rd. looking for the long-eared owls?
 
so far it seems to be doing its part... i've got a ways to go in terms of keeping the target in the aiming reticle at 600m, though! ;) i use the "expanded center point" focus for BIF shots, which is easier than if i used center point only, but even using the expanded option, it's sometimes hard to keep the AF points on the bird!
