The reconfiguration of Sunset Ave. has resulted in the elimination of the 6+ parking spots on the north end near the picnic table where I like to take sunset and train photos.
Sunday (9/28/14) I was surprised to score one of the few parallel parking spots farther south, where I set up both tripods for sunset shots. With the new walkway in the street, the tripods no longer block the walking path on the grass.
This time of year the sunset is visible to some extent from the #1 viewing platform of the Edmonds marsh. Veterans' Day (11/11/14) I set up there to photograph the marsh and the sunset. I used my 7D + 17-35L wide angle zoom mounted on a tripod w/cable release so I could use a small aperature setting, which would necessitate a slow shutter speed.
The marsh takes on an autumnesque look at sunset. With careful framing, buildings and other signs of civilization can be kept out of the photo in order to get an idea of what it may have looked like before the area was developed.

For a few days after the return to standard time, the arrival of the evening's first Seattle-Everett Sounder coincided with the sunset. Tuesday it arrived right at sunset. These shots will probably not be possible Wednesday.
I am not completely happy with these photos and will be returning here in the coming weeks to refine my techniques so I can "jump [it] up a couple of notches", as Chad would say.

I missed Monday's beautiful sunset, so Tuesday (2/17/15) I went down to the fishing pier in the hopes of catching another one. Lots of other people with cameras were there for the same reason.
Thanks. Shots 1-4 were taken with my 7D + 24-105L medium zoom. I should have used my 17-34L wide zoom so shots 2-3 would be a single photo. Shot #5 was taken with the 5DIII + 100-400L telephoto zoom.
