went back out to Snohomish today, mostly out of boredom, to see what i could find... good thing i did! i got probably 60 really nice, close (18-20 feet) shots of a lazuli bunting for my trouble! here are three of my favorites of the images i've processed so far. these are only cropped about 20% for composition, and should make great prints... and i'm sure one of 'em will find its way into my 2017 calendar...
they're definitely gorgeous birds! i had never seen one before this spring, and my "Birds of Washington" guide says they're predominantly eastern WA birds, with only limited range on the "wet side", mostly down around Olympia... but this year, there've been multiple sightings in the Snohomish area, as well as at Marymoor Park in Redmond... they must be expanding their range!
