Been "holed up" for a while due to weather, but managed to get out for most of the afternoon today. Was looking for a rumored pygmy owl, but alas, it eluded me. Settled for a nice consolation prize - a flock of varied thrushes foraging alongside a logging road. I hadn't actually laid eyes on a varied thrush for the better part of 10 years, so getting some shots of them was quite a treat!

For the past few mornings I have heard a pair of varied thrush about three houses away calling to each other. I wish they were in my yard.

They are at it again. Definitely two different birds as one's trill is a lower pitch than the other's. If I were Rocky, they would fly up to my back deck and pose for photos.
