western bluebirds

went over to Ellensburg yesterday to shoot some bluebirds... there are nest boxes all along one of the roads leading back into the hills, and many were occupied. some had eggs, some had chicks, and there was no shortage of birds, both western bluebirds and mountain bluebirds. here are some shots of the western variety...

yeah... i got your message after we got back to Ellensburg and cell service, but by then it was about 8:30... did you get some good shots of the terns?

No. I went there during high tide and was told I should have been there during low tide.

yeah, you want to be there just as the tide starts back in... they fish in the shallow water just north of the marina parking lot. i think they prefer fishing in water less than 3 feet deep... once the tide gets in, and the water gets deeper than that, they seem to move on to other locations, or wait till the next tide cycle. i don't know why.. perhaps it's easier for them to see the fish in shallower water, and they don't have to dive so deep to catch them...
