Went out this afternoon hoping for some yellow warblers or a Wilson's, but neither one deigned to appear... however, I got something even better! This lovely male western tanager gave me good looks for about 20 minutes at it flitted between branches and sallied for bugs...

Thanks, Bill! I so seldom see these, and even more rarely get photos, that it was a real treat to spend 15 minutes watching this little guy!
