what is it?

this greenery is common hereabouts, but up close it looks much different from what we normally see... can you tell what it is? 5D, 24-135 @ 85mm, 10 sec @ f/11. this is a 100% center crop.

If we can't figure it out, I'll bet the folks over at one of my other sites, http://gardenforums.com/forum/ could tell you pretty quickly, and then tell you how to to care for it, and propagate it and...

I'm not sure, but if the doc gives you a big dose of penicillin it might go away.

I don't actually think Penicillin would kill it. I think you'd need some zinc sulfate. I feel stupid now. A Bryophyte, indeed. Sorry, I was very mosstaken before I knew it was obvious...lol.

heh... you guys are good! yep... it's the moss that grows on old, dead cedar stumps in the woods around here... looks a bit different up close, doesn't it??

Very interesting. It sure looks like a Racomitrium, which is a rock moss. Interesting that you say you find it on Cedar... Cool stuff. Thanks for the challenge.
