Bill Anderson and I have been watching a couple of eagle pairs that have hatchlings (if that's the word). Both nests are situated so that seeing the eaglets is very limited.
I visited the Pt. Edwards pair's nest yesterday (Saturday) and one of the adults (the female, I think) was actually in the clear. She eventually flew toward me - a rare event, since
they tend to fly the other direction behind the nest tree.
These images were made using the Canon 5Diii and 400mm f5.6L, at f6.3, 1/1250s, ISO 400 e.c. +2/3. I didn't have my 500 f4 and tripod with me....
Would have been nice if the eaglets had stuck their collective heads up....but no such luck.

I actually was pleased with the level of detail, considering this is a severe crop and the photo was taken with the 1.4x Tamron extender.

Bill Anderson has been doing a great job of almost daily updates of this nest. I dropped by a couple of days ago and set up my Canon 500 mm f4L with Tamron 1.4x extender (along with the 5Diii) to
see what might be happening. Mainly nothing exciting, but I was surprised at how big the eaglet is. Quite a wing stretch. I haven't seem him/her doing any branching yet, but I'm guessing that will
come soon.
