pretty sure this is a yellowlegs of one variety or other... it does have yellow legs, though they're hidden in the grass, and the markings and colors are about right. spotted it this afternoon at Canyon Park. this was the best shot i could get - it landed at the edge of the pond, then took off a few seconds later, but was never really out in the open...

My vote is for a lesser yellowlegs. I'm always amazed at how close you get to the birds at Canyon Park.
