I was going through my portfolio looking for some photos to submit for a contest and got into looking at one in particular simply because I like it more now than I did when I took the picture.
Yes, it's a monochrome, it was taken December 2011, the fog was out, it was cold and the sun was going down.
The contest's theme is "Trees." Is this a strong contest photo in your opinion? comments and suggestions welcomed.
One of my favorite trees. I've always been bugged about the little trees in the foreground but you captured it perfectly. I'm torn if this is contest material, there is something about the processing in the finer branches that I can't get past, nor can I put my finger on it. Yet, I really like it. I'm no help am I?

I tried to put a few elements into the scene, dusk, landscape and the trees. So the trees in the photo will be lacking intricate detail. Think of dusk.
E, I think that I will make the trees a subject in my upcoming visits and focus on more detail at different times of the day.

BTW, I have to correct myself. The tree in the second photo is separate from the trees in the first image. The tree in the second photo actually sits about 100 feet to the left of the Trees in the original photo if you were standing in front of them from the year round walking path at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.
