Last month I ventured up to Rosario Head to try for photos of the Yellow-billed Loon. The photos of the loon in the cloudy light didn't turn out well as it was too far a way. However a Black Oystercatcher was close in and cooperative. This shot was with my 7D2 and 100-400 zoom which is a great combination. I have found that I can get decent shots even at high ISO if I don't have to crop much. 1/200 sec, F5.6, ISO 3200.

Nice shot, Ken! I went up there myself just over a week ago, and got the oystercatchers, plus some harlequins, on the rocks close to the beach... great spot!

Great shot. I have the same camera + lens combo. I have found that the 7DII handles high ISO settings much better than the 7D, but it is still best to keep the ISO settings under 1000 if you will be cropping the photos.
