Hi there,
I stumbled across this site and think it may just be what I am looking for. I am a regular over at the photo forum and finding a photo forum for my area of the country is great! I shoot Nikon, I guess I would classify myself as an experianced amateur. I enjoy toting my D80 around and have been crowned the family paparazzi. I edit in PSE 8, though am looking into lightroom. Anyways, enough is enough.

Welcome from another experienced amateur! I have found this place to be my new web photo home. A great group of helpful fun people

Hello and welcome to the forum. You sound like a great fit for the site, and I think you'll enjoy it. We've got a lot of serious amateurs and semi pro shooters here (as well as all skill levels from total novice to full time pros...)

When you get the chance, post some of your shot, we always enjoy seeing new member's work.

(Edited so nobody gets the wrong impression ;))

Bob, when you label someone a "working pro" ... for some strange reason it just sounds wrong LOL like a working girl ... my brain must be fried ... going back to my regularly scheduled activities today :)

Nina, I'm guessings you're still tired from the weekend, those 4:00 AM departures will do that. Meanwhile, what would you prefer to be called? :)

lol, I think I can believe that :)

I got a cute description in a PM, not sure I can post it, maybe the sender can add it here LOL it fit to a T

What's really sad is that I'm having trouble getting folks to pay me for my artwork on a regular basis. Hard on the ego and the wallet. :(

As for Nina's PM:

Working long hours
Visiting strange cities
Spending lots of nights in hotels
Hard work
Little money
When it's all done, you usually think you got screwed.

Call Girl or Photographer? The job description sounds a lot alike doesn't it? ;)

Just remember what is great art seldom has mass appeal...pretty sells:rolleyes:

That's fine, I'm OK with selling some of the "pretty" to go along with the "fine art". Nikon doesn't offer any discounts for "artists".

You're right though, my best selling photos aren't fine art, and they aren't creative. My number one seller is from the Cedar Creek Grist Mill. You know the shot, you show up and put your tripod into the notches in the ground left from everyone else's tripod, click the shutter and create the "one-in-a-million" shot. But in this case, that means my shot is one of a million others just like it. ;)
