While on the same hike that I shot the wild flowers, (above LaCamas Lake on Sat. April 10th), I happened to find this lizard, first shot. A few hundred yards from there, but during the month of Feb. on an unseasonably warm day I took the second shot. All very surprising to me, as I don't commonly see many lizards in this area. On both occasions they were out enjoying the sunshine just as I was.

Can anyone I.D. these reptiles. I had thought they were some variety of skink, but it doesn't match any decription I've found.

Good work Janice. Looks like a match. I have seen the southern alligator lizard in another, not so good photo, and didn't make the connection.
 
BEAUTIFUL!!! I was lamenting the lack of reptiles up here....I hope to see some of these some day
