had occasion to drive out highway 530 past Oso the other day, and snapped this out the car window as i went by... the highway is open again, but the landscape on either side looks nothing like it did before... this is the slide area itself, to the west of the highway. that was a HUGE chunk of the hillside that collapsed! looks like someone took a huge ice cream scoop and just took out half the hillside...
Drove through there last month. Pretty awesome to see the scope of the devastation and difficult to comprehend the amount of energy unleashed by the slide as it swept across the valley.
