Rufous in the rain

This particular Rufous Hummingbird was quite the poser, taking off for short flights but always returning to the same perch. I can only imagine the colors that might have been if it were sunny! Lucky me.

One very fine looking fellow! A Rufous returned to my gardens this past weekend but he certainly wasn't showing his colors like yours!

Wow, great colors, Joe! I think the subtle lighting actually helped the colors. We see the rufous every year, but haven't seen either the females or males yet here.
