Out by the old nuclear facility by Goble OR is a park called Trojan Park. Nice mix of birds and a pretty large lake. Even had the kids along for the ride. C&C welcome.
 
Something interesting to me when I was trying to visualize DOF was using a dof calculator you can find online. You put in focal length, camera type, etc and it will give you near limit and far for dof and other things. It'll help show what effect camera sensors and focal length have on dof. Just do a Google search for dof calculator... :)

I just realized that my "Caps Lock" was on. I'm too lazy to go back and fix it, though ;)
