Quoting the description on the dipslay:

This Korean bonsai was collected from the wild on Seol Ark Mountain in Korea at an elevation of about 4,000 feet. The massive, hollow trunk of this slow-growing tree reveals its great age, emphasized by the strong downward movement of the branches. Yew trees are valued in the US as a source of paclitaxel, the essential ingredient in certain anti-cancer drugs. The value of this tree, however, is its ability to inspire us with its nobility and grace.

The curators estimate that this tree dates from the 1600's.
