Pt. Edwards Eaglet 2013

I have been deferring posting photos of the Pt. Edwards eaglets to Terry, who with his 500mm telephoto + 1.4 teleconverter can take much better photos than I. Wednesday evening (7/17) the eaglets put on a flight frenzy before Terry arrived.
One eaglet was perched on a tree south of the nest.
Then it flew to a tree north of the nest.
It didn't stay there long before it flew back to the nest amidst a lot of crying.

The reason for the eaglet's quick and noisy return home became apparent upon closer examination of my photos.
Mom had dropped by with dinner.

Apparently Mom didn't want much to do with her noisy and rowdy brood, as she quickly left.
One of the eaglets jumped (or got pushed) out of the nest and appeared to get tangled in some branches.
It found its way out and flew to another branch.

Look closely in the nest and you can see one eaglet squawking at the other.
It then flew up and chased its sibling off the perch.
Kids will be kids.

Shots from Thursday afternoon (7/18). I have named the two eaglets Fly Baby and Cry Baby.
Fly Baby takes off.......

Eagles do not necessarily produce offspring every year. Their number of offspring can vary from year to year. The Pt. Edwards pair hatched one eaglet in 2011, none in 2012, and two in 2013. I must say that it is far more entertaining to photograph the two offspring of 2013 than it was to photograph 2011's only child.

Thursday morning (7/19) one of the adults was hanging out in the family tree which has a view of Puget Sound.
One of the eaglets was hanging out in the large tree the mother has used as a sentry post. The lighting was terrible.
I returned in the afternoon when Terry reported both eaglets were on the sentry tree.
