Northern Flicker showing up for evening visit

This guy prefers "chickadee chew" over suet! Glad he paused in the tree before hanging off the squirrel-proof seed feeder. :)

Young Swainson's Thrush in flower basket

This young Swainson's Thrush had a run-in with a window this morning. I placed him in a flower basket to rest and reorient (thinking positively here). After about an hour he was perking up enough to sample a flower bud. Moments later he took flight into a nearby tree!

Juvenile Pileated Woodpecker

Juvenile Pileated Woodpecker spent half hour or so exploring the different feeding options in the yard. Suet was the winner!

Downy Woodpecker

I was standing on my deck when this little fellow flew right up to the nearest feeder! I was delighted as I only see them a few times a year.

Thank you! I love the times where I'm in the garden and the birds continue their activity as if I'm not even there. In reality more often than not when I step outside there is a mass exodus!
